چکیده مقاله |
This qualitative study investigates the challenges encountered by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers when incorporating democratic assessment practices in diverse EFL settings. Through the utilization of online focus group discussions conducted via Google Meet, EFL teachers from universities, institutions, and schools were engaged in order to explore their perspectives on the obstacles experienced during the implementation of democratic assessment approaches. The primary objective of this research was to identify and examine the challenges confronted by EFL teachers in adopting democratic assessment. The analysis of the gathered data revealed three key categories of challenges encountered by EFL teachers in implementing democratic assessment: students' lack of assessment literacy, limited authority of the teachers, and teachers' resistance to change. By pinpointing these specific challenges, this study contributes to the existing literature by shedding light on the intricacies of implementing democratic assessment within EFL contexts. This study offers implications for EFL teachers, educators, and educational systems. It has valuable insights for educational policymakers, administrators, and teacher training programs. These insights can aid in addressing the identified challenges and promote the wider adoption of democratic assessment practices in EFL contexts. Implementing democratic assessment not only enhances the quality of assessment but also supports students' learning outcomes. |
