| This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview and critical analysis of the field of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). CDA is an interdisciplinary approach that examines language use as a social practice, focusing on power relations, ideologies, and social hierarchies. By critically analyzing texts, discourses, and societal structures, CDA seeks to unveil hidden meanings and expose dominant ideologies perpetuated through language. This paper explores the theoretical foundations of CDA, its key concepts and methodologies, as well as its applications in various domains. Additionally, it discusses the criticisms faced by CDA along with potential avenues for future research. The objective of this paper is to shed light on Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) - an influential framework within sociolinguistics that investigates how language plays a role in shaping power dynamics within society. By examining discourse patterns across different contexts such as politics, media representations, education systems or corporate environments; researchers utilizing CDA aim to unearth underlying inequalities and challenge dominant narratives. |
