چکیده مقاله
This research has investigated the perception and implementation of teaching responsive to cultural diversity of an elementary teacher in the classroom. The participant is an elementary school teacher who is studying in the final year of a bachelor's degree in elementary education and teaches in an area that is culturally and linguistically diverse. Data collection sources include participant interviews, field observations, participant notes, and document collections. Four interviews were conducted with the participant: the first interview was conducted before the first teaching and the second interview was conducted right after observing the first two teaching sessions. The final interview was conducted two weeks after the teaching observation. In addition to the interviews, five classroom observations were also conducted. The teacher's diaries were also studied to collect data. The last source was the documents that were presented in the classroom, including daily lesson plans and students' assignments. Data analysis started from the beginning of the study and continued after data collection. Validity of the findings was achieved through triangulation of different sources of collected data, teacher self-review, peer review. The analyzes show that the participating teacher had a limited understanding of teaching responsive to cultural diversity and performed poorly in her classroom.
