چکیده مقاله |
For one’s development, acquiring literacy is vital. People with developed literacy skills are more likely to explore and reach their potentials. Student teachers are not exempt from this rule. They are expected to be competent in technological, pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK). Although many ELT student teachers are vigorous users of digital technologies, they often do not make use of them for literacy teaching purposes. Therefore, preparing the ELT student teachers for technology integration deems necessary. The present qualitative study aims to explore the ELT student teachers’ perception at Farhangian University, Semnan, Iran about their competencies in implementing TPACK for EFL teaching using semi-structured interviews. Four female and three male ELT student teachers were selected implementing purposive sampling. The findings revealed that the pre-service ELT teacher education programs tend to fail to equip future teachers with a sound technological pedagogical content knowledge base, which is likely to pose a challenge for them in the way of effective technology integration. The study has some implications for policy makers as well as curriculum and material planners and developers. |
