چکیده مقاله
English language teaching (ELT) reform is the focal element of any educational system. Evaluating existing materials is helpful for both teachers and course developers in order to recognize students’ needs and make future advancements. This article presented the outcomes of a comprehensive investigation scrutinizing the extent to which the Vision Series, the Standard English textbooks used in Iranian high schools, effectively attended to the diverse learning needs and desires of its target audience. The study involved the administration of a questionnaire to 200 (100 male, 100 female) high school students and 50 (25 male, 25 female) educators, aiming to unveil the congruence between the content and delivery of the Vision Series and the articulated needs of the learners. The study highlights a significant disparity between the textbooks and the articulated needs of students, urging educators to reconsider the suitability of the Vision Series and explore alternative course materials that better align with learners' identified needs. The findings emphasize the importance of ongoing assessment and adaptation of English Language Teaching materials to ensure their efficacy in the dynamic educational landscape.
