Innovation within the EFL Classroom: Impacts of Flipped Classroom Method on Iranian high school students’ achievement in reading learning during COVID-19 pandemic Hossein Siahpoosh1 & Vida Ahmadi2 1Assistant professor, Department of English language ,Ardabil Branch ,Islamic Azad University, Ardabil Iran. 2 Ph.D Candidate of TEFL , Islamic Azad University, Ardabil Branch,Ardabil Abstract Reading is a crucial component of English learning and it has a vital role in communication which requires to be taught with new classroom techniques. One of the practical models is Flipped Classroom Method (FCM). Taking Farzanehgan High School in Ardabil as a case study to explore the effectiveness and adaptability of FCM for reading learning , this study investigated its impact on the change of EFL learners' execution in high schools with a quasi- experimental plan. The content delivery was done through 3-phase instruction: before class, in class and after class. To run this research, sixty high school students of the same grade were divided into an experimental and a control group. The former received FCM and the latter used Conventional Teaching Method (CTM). The data were gathered before and after the end of the experiment. They were analyzed using basic and inferential statistical methods including mean scores, standard deviations, independent and paired sample t-tests. The findings showed statistically significant differences in learning of reading. Learners achieved higher performance under flipped class strategy.
