چکیده مقاله
This paper examines the relationship between the English Language and English Literature in English language classrooms. Teaching English-language literature,, including imaginative works like drama and fiction, has been revived as a crucial part of teaching language to second-language learners. This acknowledges that literature is a vital component of English language instruction in English language classrooms. In order to improve English language proficiency, this paper aims to investigate and reveal how the two subjects are interdependent. Considering the “Siamese twin composition" of the two subjects, language and literature are Siamese twins. Therefore, this paper argues that reading literature improves language proficiency in all domains, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, and subdomains like pronunciation, comprehension, vocabulary development, perception, composition, etc. In addition to its educational advantages, the study shows that literature has a variety of other effects on fostering the creative thinking of students, serving as a source of imagination, and promoting creativity. By highlighting the importance and usefulness of literature as a source for second language acquisition, this study adds to the body of knowledge on second language learning. It illustrates how crucial it is to incorporate literature as helpful content when teaching English to speakers of other languages.
