چکیده مقاله
This study aimed to develop and validate a scale to measure EFL (English as a foreign language) teachers’ perceived motivational climate (supervisor-specific scale) (PMC) and check the predictive utility of PMC with respect to individual correlates including type of feedback information and emotional exhaustion of EFL teachers. To this end, 337 EFL teachers were involved in the scale development and validation phase. In this phase, LISREL was used to conduct a CFA, which yielded five factors (performance climate, mastery climate, autonomy supportive climate, autonomy controlling climate, and caring climate). In the second phase, data were gathered from 212 EFL teachers to check the hypothesized structural model, using LISREL. The results showed adaptive patterns for mastery climate, autonomy supportive climate, and caring climate. Maladaptive patterns were found for performance climate and autonomy controlling climate. As to its implications, this study points to the importance of training supervisors to create empowering motivational climates.
